Hypnotherapist Fiona Lamb write’s about how clear thinking makes decision making easier and life more enjoyable.
When there is less confusion you are free to live in the moment and focus on how you want to feel, rather than your thoughts controlling you. Detoxing your mind from fear, stress, worries and cares really is the foundation of a happy and positive life.
1 – Slow down your breathing
When our minds and thoughts are busy and quick our breathe usually follows. Being aware of your breathing and ensuring it remains calm and steady can bring immediate peace. Our breathe is our natural relaxation system we often forget about.
2 – Meditate daily
Taking at least 10 minutes a day to meditate really helps you gain control of your thoughts, energy and mood. Meditating is for everyone and there is no right or wrong way to do it. If you think of meditating as just taking time out to think nothing then it feels a lot more manageable.
3 – Get enough sleep
Our unconscious mind processes a lot of information as we sleep. If we aren’t getting enough rest our thoughts can get overwhelming. The term ‘sleep on it’ was created as a result. You should aim for 6-8 hours of uninterrupted deep sleep a night.
4 – Visualise
A good way to clear your thoughts is using guided imagery. By focusing on how you want to feel and your desired outcome to situations you shift your mindset dramatically. The mind does not know the difference between what is imagined and reality, so use the creative part of your mind in a positive way rather than destructive.
5 – Affirmations
Repeating positive affirmations helps build new thought processes and weakens old ways of thinking. We can be programmed to think negatively and presume the worst so by repeating affirmations daily new ideas can form helping us to overcome negative, critical habits.
There are breathing exercises, meditations, visualisations and affirmations all on the Mind Detox app which can be used as a resource and tool to manage a busy brain and detox unwanted thoughts.
